Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing and Communications

Northern Illinois University (NIU), a world-class, research-focused public institution located in DeKalb, Illinois, invites applications and nominations for an inaugural Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing and Communications.

Reporting to President Doug Baker, the Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing and Communication will be a key member of the university’s senior leadership, work in close partnership with the Executive Vice President and Provost, and serve as a member of the President’s Senior Cabinet. The Vice President will be the senior enrollment and marketing officer for the university and work collaboratively with members of the division of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs and other university constituents to promote his/her area and guide a comprehensive, integrated approach to enrollment and marketing that will result in new levels of success in attracting, recruiting, retaining and graduating students.

The Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing and Communication will join NIU during a time of transformation and optimism for the university. With the roll out of a new branding strategy and identification of enrollment priorities, the Vice President will be empowered to seize this opportunity and bring greater synergy, coordination and purpose to these newly combined areas. The successful candidate will have significant experience in leading a successful enrollment operation with a strong understanding of marketing and communication strategies for internal and external audiences. Exceptional strategic skills are required, including the ability to develop and accurately interpret local, regional and national data; to create informed short and long range enrollment goals; and accurately assess emerging markets. The successful candidate will be a strong collaborator and partner and reflect the values of the university with a strong commitment to access, student success, diversity and excellent service. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree would distinguish the candidate and is preferred.
