  • Dr. Kellie Owens is looking for a graduate research assistant to help code and analyze qualitative interview data she has collected as part of a larger study funded by the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI). The study examines differing conceptualizations of what makes genomic test results “actionable,” and includes in-depth interviews with clinical geneticists, genetic counselors, and primary care providers. The graduate research assistant will primarily code interview data using NVivo software, and write analytic memos based on the coding process. Additional opportunities for theoretical and empirical engagement with the research project are also available, and this position will provide an opportunity for co-authorship in academic journals, if desired. The role may be extended upon expected grant funding from Dr. Owens in 2022. Experience with qualitative interview coding is required. Experience with NVivo software is helpful but not required (this position will include an NVivo license). Interest in medical sociology, medical anthropology, science and technology studies (STS), and/or medical ethics is preferred.
