The Office Finance & Business Services is seeking candidates for Staff Accountant role.

The Division of the Treasurer is responsible for the College’s strategic financial planning, including investments and debt management, internal controls, accounting, budgeting, procurement services, student accounts and payroll.

We strive to execute our fiduciary responsibilities effectively by engaging in continuous process evaluation and improvement and by providing a wide array of value added and customer-centered support services for students, faculty, staff and external constituents.

Finance & Business Services serves the College community by providing a variety of financial and accounting services. In collaboration with the Office of the Treasurer, we develop and implement the procedures and mechanisms by which departmental budgets are monitored. We support academic and administrative departments in the areas of purchasing, travel, accounts payable and financial reporting.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Perform the daily accounting and monthly analysis and reconciliations for the TCNJ Foundation, including but not limited to investments, gift feeds, endowment transfers to the investment account, Foundation transfers to the College, bank reconciliations, intercompany billing and receivables/payables (backup to other staff), fund balance monitoring and other analyses. Communicate with Foundation staff when needed to resolve issues. Ensure proper levels of authorization are obtained.
     
  • Participate in the implementation of Fundriver for the Foundation. Maintain the integrity of the Fundriver system by adding new funds as needed. Perform the investment allocations, reconciliations, and endowment spending calculations based on the required schedule for each.
     
  • Prepare the Foundation form 990, annual gift annuity reports, and other surveys/reports within the deadlines. Renew the Foundation business registration. Work with other departments and third parties (such as the investment manager) as needed to obtain necessary information.     
     
  • Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis, including but not limited to, cash, bond trustee accounts, fixed assets, debt, receivables, prepaid expenses, and unearned revenues. Prepare necessary journal entries.
     
  • Process debt service payments, update the long-term debt rollforward, and reconcile to the general ledger. Prepare necessary journal entries.
  • Maintain the grant reporting due dates file. Reconcile grant accounts and prepare financial reports and invoices timely in accordance with the required reporting schedule. Inquire of PI regarding any questionable expenses and obtain cost-sharing information from PI to be included in reports. Prepare necessary journal entries.       

Required Qualifications:

  • Two (2) or more years of relevant experience 
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited higher education institution 
  • Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience on a year for year basis
  • A Master's degree may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in accouting, finance or business administration 
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license 
  • Knowledge of grant processes and compliance requirements
