Seton Hall University (Seton Hall) seeks a thoughtful, collaborative and strategic leader to serve as its next Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The next CFO of Seton Hall will have the opportunity to play a significant leadership role at a University that is at a critical and exciting juncture in its history. Under the leadership of new president, Seton Hall has developed an ambitious strategic plan to elevate the institution and ensure excellence; conceived a campus vision to physically improve the already beautiful campus; and implemented a new Responsibility Center Management (RCM) budget model to unlock the University’s creative energies. The University has large ambitions to grow and strengthen its resource base, innovate and enhance the academic mission, and remain true to its Catholic mission and identity. To achieve this, the community and senior leadership of Seton Hall seek a CFO who will serve as a true thought partner in this endeavor.

 

Founded in 1856, Seton Hall is an R2 Doctoral University recognized for its distinguished academic programs and rich athletic traditions. The University has nine schools and colleges and currently enrolls over 10,000 undergraduates and graduate students. Its main campus’ location in South Orange, New Jersey places the University in close proximity to New York City. Despite the challenges the pandemic posed, Seton Hall has maintained a strong foundation to plan and be hopeful for the future. With an endowment valued at $336 million, an operating budget of $324 million, and a stable outlook, the University is in great financial condition.

 

A direct report to the President, the CFO oversees a staff of over 120 and four direct reports: the Associate Vice President for Financial Planning and Budgeting, the Associate Vice President for Finance, the Associate Vice President for Accounting and Controller, and the Chief Information Officer. The CFO serves as a key member of the executive cabinet leadership team responsible for ensuring the execution of the strategic plan via financial resource stewardship. Given the institution’s ambitions, it will rely on the CFO to focus on providing strategic thought partnership to the leadership and larger community, long range financial planning, modernizing business process with technological innovations, and developing and maintaining a strong team of professionals.
