Vice President for Finance and Administration

Carroll University is launching a national search for a new Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA). Serving as a key member of the senior leadership team, the VPFA is the university’s chief financial officer and will report to and partner with Carroll president, Dr. Cindy Gnadinger.

The new VPFA must be focused on maintaining the current financial health of the university and supporting fiscal sustainability, while bringing a fresh business approach to the implementation of the Carroll University strategic plan. A seasoned financial executive and a keen strategic thinker, the VPFA will be asked to engage multiple constituencies with transparency and authenticity while developing and sharing financial information and plans.

Located in Waukesha, WI, Carroll University is Wisconsin’s first, four- year institution of higher learning and is currently celebrating its 175th Anniversary. Today’s Carroll is grounded in the liberal arts tradition and a leader in the health sciences. It offers more than 95 areas of study, including a variety of graduate programs and a clinical doctorate in physical therapy. Carroll is proud of its long-standing relationship with the Presbyterian Church (PCUSA).

Assuming a progressive role as the University’s chief financial officer, the new VPFA will be called on for elements of both leadership and management. The VPFA will have opportunities to develop a model for long-range budgeting, to influence the infrastructure for a growing endowment, to oversee continuous improvement in campus administration activities and to make a meaningful contribution to continuing Carroll’s legacy of fiscal health, all while embracing the university's ethos and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

The successful candidate should possess a combination of professional experiences and personal qualities that match the expectations outlined in the Agenda for the new VPFA. The VPFA will bring integrity, energy, empathy and an uncompromising work ethic to their role. Preference will be given to those with a master’s degree or higher in business administration, finance or accounting. A background in higher education and a CPA are also desired.

The Search Committee will begin a review of applications late November and continue its work until an appointment is made. To assure full consideration, application materials should be received by December 10, 2021. Candidates should provide: a letter of interest stating how the candidate’s experiences and qualifications connect with the required/preferred characteristics and priorities expressed in the position profile; curriculum vitae/resume; statement of contribution to diversity, equity and inclusion; five professional references with emails, telephone numbers, and a description of the candidate’s professional relationship with each reference listed (references will not be contacted without prior written authorization from the applicant).

Applications and nominations should be sent electronically (PDF or MS Word) to: CarrollUVPFA@agbsearch.com
