The Opportunity

Trinity College, a private, co-educational liberal arts institution founded in 1823 and located in Hartford, Connecticut, seeks an experienced, strategic, and visionary leader to become its new dean of admissions and financial aid.

Reporting to the vice president for student success and enrollment management with a dotted line to the president, the new dean of admissions and financial aid will be a leader and mentor in the division of Student Success and Enrollment Management. The dean will continue to build upon the college’s strong commitment to access, diversity, and inclusion and will be an external champion for Trinity College and the value of the liberal arts education it provides. The new dean will develop relationships across campus with students, faculty, and staff through strategic, student-oriented leadership and charismatic relationship building. The dean will bring and implement strategies to diversify and augment student enrollment and will help to ensure student success, engagement, and inclusion through proactive management of student financial aid. The dean will be an important member of the senior leadership team in Student Success and Enrollment Management which is comprised of an executive assistant, a special assistant to the VP and individuals leading these areas: student life, community life and standards, athletics and recreation, and career and life design.

Throughout the tenure of President Berger-Sweeney, the college has consistently met its enrollment, retention, and graduation goals. Students that enroll are prepared to succeed both academically and socially and to be engaged citizens of the Trinity College community and the world. First year to second year retention has increased over the last four years as have graduation rates and student satisfaction. To support students and families, the college financial aid budget has almost doubled over the last seven years. As part of the overall Trinity College capital campaign, the college will raise $100M to expand the opportunities for students to enroll at Trinity College. The dean will have a significant role in helping Trinity College continue to attain its goals and to be a national leader in higher education.
