Program Manager, Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship 

 

The George Mason University, School of Business, invites applications for the position of Program Manager, Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The Program Manager coordinates the day-to-day operational aspects of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship leadership program for the School of Business. This includes program and events management, administrative support for the team, communications support (including web, social media, in-person, over the phone, and other electronic platforms), and managing and executing special projects as assigned. Responsibilities: The Program Manager position has responsibilities in the following areas: Program Management: Manage substantial aspects of program operations including day to day operation of student and community facing programs; Manage and provide support to the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Board of Advisors; Create and manage stakeholder relations and address requests for information, program support, and program modifications of a non-academic nature; Support the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship leadership team in program design and delivery; Responsible for timely and accurate invoicing and budget management; Primary point of contact for the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship leadership team.  

 

Administrative Support:  Provide high-level support to the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship leadership team in the School of Business managing the planning, communications, and operations for the unit-wide initiative; Screen calls, visitors, and inquiries. Schedule appointments and maintain accompanying electronic calendar; Prepare reports, correspondence, and other written materials for the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship leadership team; Process work and supply orders; Maintain daily and annual schedule of activities for all aspects of the program.    

 

Marketing and Communications:  Assist the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship leadership and administrative team with website and social media as follows:

  • develop and maintain constant communication with stakeholders through social media and emails;
  • develop content and update program information on the web and various social media channels;
  • collaborate with the university’s marketing team to promote relevant events to both internal and external communities; 
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to identify needs and evaluate alternative solutions.  

 

Events Management: Assist in creating and distributing program promotional materials. Publicize promotional material and other communications to prospective students, faculty, and external stakeholders; Plan, organize and implement events as required.  

 

Special Projects: Manage and execute special projects as assigned by Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship leadership team. 

 

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in education administration, marketing, public relations, communications, journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; Must have a professional demeanor and the ability to interact with high-level academic and administrative officials, entrepreneurs, as well as corporate and government high-level executives; Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;  Strong written and verbal communication skills; Must be a strong team player; Demonstrated ability to create socially conscious digital marketing campaigns on various platforms intended for multiple audiences/stakeholders; Project or Program Management experience.  

 

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree and/or equivalent education or 2-3 years in a professional business environment; Events management experience, preferably in a university setting; Experience with managing the day-to-day operations of experiential student programming; Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with various stakeholders; Experience working in higher education or government agencies is a plus; Experience managing and overseeing student programs or organizations and ability to work well with students with diverse needs; Experience with entrepreneurship education, startups or small business.
