Job Description

Duties:

The Director of the Penn Chief Learning Officer Executive Doctoral Program manages curricula and operational aspects of the graduate degree program, recruits, teaches, advises students, collaborates widely across Penn GSE, and the University, manages and collaborates with program-related vendors and leaders in the fields of organizational learning and leadership, and is engaged in a personal research/publication agenda. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop and oversee curricula in the relevant fields of study/academic blocks
  • Create and/or oversee all academic and administrative processes related to student dissertations and dissertation committees
  • Serve as primary advisor to all students; serve as dissertation chair to multiple students annually; serve as dissertation committee member on multiple committees annually
  • Teach in all academic blocks. Specific academic block teaching responsibilities determined based on candidate's recognized area of expertise. Teach research methods in the Master's/Dissertation Preparation course.
  • Monitor and maintain academic, ethical and equity standards in all aspects of the program
  • Recruit and support faculty to teach in all academic blocks and to serve on dissertation committees
  • Manage all aspects of the marketing, recruiting and admissions processes
  • Develop and manage annual budget; manage and oversee all financial and administrative aspects of the program


Qualifications:

A doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, PsyD preferred) and 10 or more years of experience is required or equivalent combination of education and experience. The ideal candidate is a recognized, published thought leader in organizational and leadership. The individual will have 10+ years' experience in highly responsible roles in organizations plus significant experience in higher education (e.g., teaching graduate students, graduate program management; curriculum development and/or review; executive education). The person has a demonstrated record of achievement in budgetary oversight and financial management, entrepreneurial activities, student advising and/or executive coaching, team development and management, and collaboration with faculty and staff as well as business, NGO, not-for-profit and governmental leaders. The candidate has a demonstrated track record of supporting diversity, equity and inclusion in all areas of organizational life.
