Tenure Track Assistant Professor, Educational Psychology - Flagstaff, AZ #605719

The Department of Educational Psychology (EPS) is seeking to fill a Tenure Track Assistant Professor, Educational Psychology position at our Flagstaff Mountain campus beginning in August 2022. The EPS Department seeks candidates with a background in Educational Psychology, Learning Sciences, or closely related area with expertise in one or more of the following areas: learning/learning environments, cognition, memory, affect/emotion, motivation, reasoning/problem solving/decision making, and learning with technology. The candidate should possess demonstrated or emerging potential for successful research, innovative instructional methodology, experience or potential in working with graduate-level students on research and dissertations, and a commitment to diversity. The position is a 9-month tenure-track faculty line, with potential to teach during the summer.

Responsibilities:

  1. Teach undergraduate educational psychology courses for teacher preparation programs
  2. Teach graduate courses with a focus on educational psychology for learning for programs across the College of Education
  3. Establish/maintain an active line of research in your area of expertise and pursue interdisciplinary research collaborations
  4. Prepare and manage external grant proposals/programs
  5. Advise and mentor graduate students on research and serve on dissertation committees
  6. Fulfill service responsibilities to the department, college, university, and the profession

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Earned Doctorate in Educational Psychology, Learning Sciences, or closely related area. ABD candidates may be considered only if they will have their degree by the start date
  2. College teaching experience (can include college teaching as a graduate assistant)
  3. Evidence of an emerging research agenda (e.g., at least 1 conference presentation or publication since 2019)

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrated success at relevant undergraduate or graduate level teaching experience in the area of educational psychology, learning sciences, human development, or related field
  2. Evidence or strong potential to develop and maintain an active line of research in your area of expertise
  3. Evidence or strong potential to prepare and manage external grant proposals/programs in your line of research
  4. Relevant experience working in a PK-12 school or child-centered learning environment
  5. Ability/experience or strong interest in advising and mentoring graduate students
  6. Demonstrated interest in working with graduate students on research projects (e.g., presentations and publications) and dissertations
  7. Experience and/or interest in working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams
  8. Demonstrated efficacy in working with people from a variety of diverse backgrounds (e.g., culture, gender/sexuality, SES, language); and appreciation of the diversity of rural and southwest communities
  9. Evidence of a strong professional identity, and an active involvement or leadership roles in educational psychology-related professional associations, such as AERA or APA

Annual Salary: $62,000-$64,000 – Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
