Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Dean of the Graduate School

The Ohio State University, one of the nation's leading flagship public research universities and the land grant teaching and research institution in Ohio, seeks a highly accomplished, strategic and collaborative vice provost for graduate studies and an ENGIE-Axium-endowed dean to lead its Graduate School (dean). The next dean will have the opportunity to develop and implement a vision as the University looks to its future in graduate education.

The Ohio State University's Graduate School serves as the institutional home for graduate education, advocates for graduate students, fosters community among graduate students and graduate faculty, and promotes excellence and innovation in graduate education and research. The next vice provost for graduate studies and dean of the Graduate School will be an accomplished, strategic leader and collaborative professional who will partner with University leadership, faculty and others to shape, develop and implement a vision for enhancing the excellence and role of graduate education at the University. The next dean will be a visible and compelling advocate for graduate education — internally and externally — with a strong capacity for strategic vision and ability to work well in a collaborative environment to advance excellence and innovative programs. In addition, the dean will be skilled in the management of significant resources; be passionately interested in students and their development as scholars; and demonstrate strong organizational development, management and communication skills. The dean will possess the academic credentials and a distinguished record of scholarly accomplishments in their core discipline sufficient to qualify for tenure and appointment at the level of full professor at the University.
