Spelman College invites nominations and applications for the position of President. With a culture devoted to excellence and social change, Spelman seeks a President with an appreciation and vision for preserving the institution’s rich legacy and resources, while boldly and courageously leveraging the College’s global footprint to strategically support its growth and impact. Located in Atlanta, Georgia, Spelman is among the most selective women’s colleges in the nation. Spelman College is a diverse and welcoming community of learners and educators, with 180 faculty and staff supporting more than 2,400 students from 43 states and ten foreign countries.

Spelman College, a historically Black college and a global leader in the education of women of African descent, is dedicated to academic excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. Through diverse learning modalities, Spelman empowers the whole person to engage the many cultures of the world and inspires a commitment to positive social change.

As the leader and chief executive officer of Spelman College, the President exercises broad general management responsibilities for all aspects of the institution’s academic, student, financial, development, and administrative dimensions and reports to the Board of Trustees. The next President will uphold Spelman’s commitment to academic excellence, rigorous scholarship, ethical leadership, and social change while fostering an intellectually stimulating environment that advances diversity and promotes action. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader who is deeply committed to undergraduate education, steeped in the liberal arts, and will continue to position Spelman as the college of choice for talented, free-thinking Black women.
