Job Description

Penn's tuition benefit program, eligible to faculty staff and their dependents is an attractive and widely used benefit. This role will work to ensure the smooth coordination and processing of the program. The Senior Tuition Benefit Specialist will provide superior customer service regarding all aspects of the tuition program. They will ensure accuracy of all transactions regarding tuition payments, utilizing online systems. Use independent judgment, ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and other legislation as well as University policies and procedures. Reconcile monthly financial transactions with the general ledger and develop written communications and presentations. Provide thorough and independent data analysis of tuition benefit program using appropriate reporting tools to evaluate plan design, usage, impact on costs, etc. Prepare recommendations based on analysis for formal review by University senior leadership. Investigate ways to improve tuition benefit processes such as sending benefit funds to other school via wire transfer to eliminate mailing time.

Qualifications include a general understanding of basis accounting principles and demonstrated financial aptitude. Knowledge of federal, state and local tax regulations related to the taxability of tuition benefits for faculty, staff and dependents is a plus. Experience in higher education, particularly with regards to student financial systems or bursar experience is strongly preferred. Attention to detail and strong customer service orientation. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to work as part of a team, handle multiple tasks with deadlines and pressure, adjusting work schedules to prioritize duties and meet deadlines independently. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Experience in Penn systems a plus.
