Durham Technical Community College in Durham, NC announces national searches for two positions: Vice President, Chief Student Services Officer and Vice President, Chief Academic Officer. Durham Tech invites nominations for and applications from those interested in joining the College’s leadership. Durham Tech is the community college of the City of Medicine, Durham and Orange counties, and the Research Triangle Park. VICE PRESIDENT, CHIEF STUDENT SERVICES OFFICER (VP, CSSO)

Durham Tech seeks an experienced, dynamic, and creative professional with a commitment to the role of student development in a learning college environment. The Vice President, Chief Student Services Officer (VP, CSSO) will bring a thorough understanding and commitment to the philosophy, mission, and purpose of the North Carolina Community College System. The VP, CSSO will serve as an executive leader of the College; will provide oversight and support for Student Engagement, Development, and Support; and will possess the ability to articulate a vision for enrollment management and student development and support services. The VP, CSSO will motivate staff to achieve that vision and will develop and foster a comprehensive student services program that is supportive of all students, including at-risk and non-traditional students, minorities, students from low-income backgrounds, international students, and first-generation college students. The VP, CSSO will value and advocate for the dignity and engagement of people from all backgrounds and will develop and mentor faculty and staff to ensure a mutually beneficial experience.

 

The President will announce the College’s decision in February 2022, and the new VP, CSSO will assume responsibilities no later than June 2022.

Successful candidates will, at minimum, possess the following qualifications: a master’s degree in a discipline or program area offered by the College (a terminal degree in a related field is preferred) and at least five years of senior leadership experience in student development, student support services, or student affairs at a community college.

Durham Tech seeks an experienced and dynamic academic professional with a record of successful leadership and innovation. The Vice President, Chief Academic Officer (VP, CAO) will bring a thorough understanding and commitment to the philosophy, mission, and purpose of the North Carolina Community College System and will possess the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively within the College and the broader community. 

 

The VP, CAO will serve as an executive leader of the College, joining a committed, student-focused College community. The VP, CAO will provide the strategic vision and senior leadership for Academics and Guided Career Pathways; lead the development of innovative programs that address the region’s educational and workforce development needs; and advance student access, success, and completion through instructional initiatives and collaborative strategies. The VP, CAO will value and advocate for the dignity and engagement of people from all backgrounds and will develop and mentor faculty and staff to ensure a mutually beneficial experience.

Successful candidates will, at minimum, possess the following qualifications: a terminal degree in a discipline appropriate to higher education leadership or a master's degree in a discipline appropriate to higher education leadership and additional graduate work in higher education, community college leadership, education, or a related education field; a minimum of five years senior experience in instructional leadership in higher education; and demonstrated teaching experience in a postsecondary setting.
