The Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of yeast genetics, quantitative live-cell imaging, cell biology, molecular biology, protein biochemistry, and cell culture techniques. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree. 

Responsibilities may include investigation of the mechanism and function of targeted vesicle fusion during cytokinesis in both yeast and mammalian cells, using a wide range of approaches including gene editing, quantitative live-cell imaging, molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to further develop critical thinking skills, familiarize with related literatures and experimental techniques, prepare manuscript and grant preparation, present research findings in national and international meeting, mentor junior scientists, and participate in career trainings offered by the University.

Candidate should have a minimum of 3-5 years postdoctoral experience.
