Chief Business Officer

The James T. Laney School of Graduate Studies (LGS), a distinguished division of Emory University, seeks a collaborative and galvanizing professional with expertise in both financial strategy and business operations to become its next Chief Business Officer (CBO). This is a tremendous and challenging opportunity for a creative and forward-thinking finance leader to support innovation, and continue to foster a culture of openness, inclusion, transparency, and collaboration.

The LGS is motivated by a grand vision to develop leaders in service of the global good by providing a graduate education that enables students to challenge convention and articulate bold new perspectives. At Emory University, in every school and college, the LGS is shaping the student experience and paving the way for discovery with almost 50 programs of study. Students are guaranteed an LGS education that is rigorous, innovative, and encourages work beyond disciplinary bounds, allowing global thinking, and the opportunity to lead creatively where problem solving requires breadth across humanities, arts, and sciences without sacrificing depth of preparation.

The CBO will join the LGS at a time of renewed energy and transformative change. Reporting to the Dean of the LGS, the CBO will be an effective leader, natural collaborator, and skilled communicator, who is capable of building trusting relationships across Emory. The ideal candidate will also have a strategic, decision-enabling mindset and keen financial acumen that will allow them to effectively advise and partner with LGS leadership and key stakeholders.  The CBO will have experience with financial analysis, student funding, reporting, and strategic financial planning, preferably in a higher education environment, as well as knowledge and experience of operational areas. They will be committed to playing an engaged role within the LGS and across the University with a dedication to its mission.
