Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration

The University of Missouri-Kansas (UMKC) seeks an outstanding leader to serve as its next vice chancellor for finance and administration (VCFA). The VCFA serves as a key visionary and innovative member of the chancellor’s executive leadership team with responsibilities for budgetary and financial accountability, optimization of fiscal and physical resources across the university, and creating financial and administrative strategies to support and enhance institutional and strategic priorities. Reporting to the chancellor, with accountability to the executive vice president for finance and operations and chief financial officer (CFO) at the University of Missouri System (UM System), this critical role not only serves as the chief financial officer, but also shapes and drives improvements to the university's business model, operational effectiveness and process efficiency. The VCFA works collaboratively with the chancellor’s executive team to anticipate needs to meet the university’s academic mission.

The next VCFA will play a key leadership role in addressing the following priorities: cultivating, evaluating and implementing new ideas and strategies that further the goals of the university's Strategic Plan and UMKC Forward; advancing the objectives of the university's new Master Plan; working collaboratively with key internal and external partners; and building a strong team and empowering them to succeed. The successful candidate must have a master's degree in a relevant area and 10 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired or a bachelor's degree in a relevant area and 12 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
