Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre

Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre, full-time- tenure track.  Teach, advise, and recruit undergraduate Musical Theatre majors:  Courses may include, but are not limited to, Musical Theatre History, Musical Theatre Scene Study, Musical Theatre Auditions, Senior Capstone.  Coach/Conduct Main Stage musicals; mentor students in musical performance. Teach courses in other areas of expertise (i.e., beginning through advanced musical theatre/vocal technique, etc.) depending upon department needs.  Fulfill faculty expectations associated with a traditional tenure-track university appointment (teaching, scholarly/creative activity, service).  Other opportunities may include stage direction of musicals according to interest and qualifications.  Required:  Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution; significant professional musical theatre experience above and beyond the minimum education requirement; experience working with diverse student populations, audiences, and communities; ability to teach beginning through advanced levels of musical theatre classes; interest in and ability to recruit, advise, and mentor students; ability to coach/conduct musicals in a variety of styles; excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication and collaborative skills; willingness to accommodate a variety of learning styles and strategies in instructional delivery and learning activities, including online and blended learning, flexible teaching methods, and applied learning approaches.  Preferred:  MA/MM/MFA in appropriate area or equivalent professional experience; experience teaching at the college/university level; ability to direct; functional piano skills to accompany; experience with professional level productions.
