California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) is seeking a visionary, collaborative and student-centered leader to serve as Director of Residential Living and Learning, University Housing.  As CSUDH continues its exciting and dynamic upward trajectory, the Director will enjoy the unique opportunity to impact residential life on campus and promote a living, learning community that engages its students.  With the opening of a state-of-the-art residence hall, and the physical transformation of the campus, the Director will work closely with the Office of the Dean of Students and University community as CSUDH redefines what residential life will mean for its future for students and staff. 

 

A highly diverse, metropolitan university primarily serving the South Bay area of Los Angeles County, CSUDH is a public, co-education institution and one of the 23 campuses that comprise the California State University system. CSUDH enrolls over 17,000 students across six colleges and is a leader in developing outstanding programs that foster a college-focused culture in the communities it serves, with a goal of becoming a national model for student success grounded in academic excellence. The 346-acre campus is in Carson, California, just 10 miles from the beach and 13 miles from downtown Los Angeles.

 

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, the Director of Residential Living and Learning will be responsible for managing the University's Housing program.  As the top residential official on campus, the Director will also promote academic and student success initiatives to build a strong living and learning experience.  The successful candidate will bring strong experience in student affairs, residential life and the building of living/learning communities, and knowledge of housing facilities.  The Director will also be expert in meeting the needs of a diverse, urban student population in a post-COVID era at a public university.  A master’s degree with major course work in public administration, student personnel or higher education administration is required, with 5 years or more of progressively responsible university administrative experience in student affairs, with emphasis in student housing, student activities, residence life or student development.  California State University, Dominguez Hills has retained Isaacson, Miller, a national executive search firm to assist in this recruitment.
