President

Ursinus College is accepting nominations for its 19th president—a champion of liberal arts education who is eager to carry forward a bold vision for one of the nation’s most innovative undergraduate institutions.

Ursinus College, chartered in 1869, is a residential national liberal arts institution well known for an ambitious curricular philosophy that fuses the academic and residential experience. Just two years removed from a 150th anniversary celebration that invigorated the campus community, the college remains steadfast in its unwavering mission to “enable students to become independent, responsible, and thoughtful individuals.” Unified in shared values and excited about the future, the Ursinus College community champions risk taking, especially at a time of incredible disruption within higher education and there is a deep understanding of the challenges facing small liberal arts institutions. The college’s balance sheet is strong and with a $155 million endowment and strong culture of philanthropy, the institution is poised to ensure accessibility for all students remains a top priority.

Consistently ranked among the top 100 liberal arts colleges in the nation, Ursinus is home to 1,500 students from 31 states and 22 countries. The college boasts 170 gorgeous acres that are designed like an academic village: three interdisciplinary neighborhoods, a new Innovation and Discovery Center for research, plus premier arts and athletics facilities. They are also one of the nation’s “Top Green” colleges, with an organic farm and wooded trail system. Ursinus has access to city-scale resources with center city Philadelphia only 25 miles from Collegeville, while also maintaining an intimate, academically-focused community of a small and vibrant college campus.

The next president will be an innovative leader who can carry forward the momentum of a comprehensive campaign that exceeded all expectations, a new and ambitious enrollment strategy that has led to two consecutive years of historically talented classes, and a bold vision for a new generation of students. In addition, they will collaborate with the community to lead and implement the strategic planning process, chart a financially sustainable future, raise the national profile and extend the reach of the institution to attract a broad and diverse student body, champion a diverse and inclusive living, learning and working community, and engage with the faculty, staff and board around a shared vision.

The Ursinus President will be an authentic and relationship-minded leader who is a passionate champion of the liberal arts and is bold, entrepreneurial, and able to build capacity for change and innovation in a collegial and inclusive community. It is important for the president to be visible and accessible and an active member of both the Ursinus and Collegeville community.
