The George Mason University, College of Health & Human Services, Office of the Dean is launching a search for a Project Manager. About the Department:

The Dean’s Office provides full support for the College’s faculty, students, and key academic, research and practice initiatives some of which involve external partners.  More generally, the College aligns and supports Mason’s mission and strategic initiatives as well. In addition, the Dean’s Office is instrumental in promoting the College’s brand and standing and is advised by the College’s advisory board. This includes initiatives undertaken in the College’s Population Health Center and in community-based Mason and Partners Clinics.

 

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will provide C-suite level guidance, coordination, implementation, communication and operational support for the College, including delivering its mission, strategic priorities, annual goals, and special initiatives to align with the Dean’s vision and direction.  Moreover, the successful candidate will define and drive the actions, tasks, and events will advance the College and University’s priorities.  Project management responsibilities included detailed planning, procurement and execution of ongoing, new or special projects, which include community, curricular, practice, research, and student focused initiatives.

 

Duties:

  • The Project Manager is a professional position that is responsible for facilitating and managing strategic initiatives, communication, and coordination of cross-organizational initiatives, and organizational activities for the Dean in a timely, efficient and professional manner.
  • The Project Manager serves as the conduit between the Dean’s Office and academic units as well as with external partners both at Mason and in the community.  The incumbent represents and supports the Dean in managing and executing initiatives and other deliverables within scope and timelines.  An ability to maintain privacy and data confidentiality is imperative throughout performance duties and expectations. 
  • The Project Manager manages planning for the Dean’s long-and short-term initiatives, such as community-based interventions and partnerships, establishment of centers within the College, research and practice initiatives. This role requires collaborative interactions with faculty, staff and students, donors, and external partners. 
  • This position will plan, promote, coordinate with other departments, and monitor special events including but not limited to conferences and speaking engagements; engagements with elected and appointed officials, regional business leaders and organizations and donors; retreats for Deans and Directors; Staff retreats; Executive-level personnel searches.
  • The Project Manager assists the Dean and College’s leadership to identify and strategically-align priorities for successful completion.  This position provides critical support to the Dean overseeing and managing interactions with leadership, faculty, donors, and community partners amongst other Mason constituencies.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Progressive career experience with at least 2 years of experience
  • Project management knowledge, expertise and experience bringing projects to successful completion
  • Creative design and innovation skills to meet the challenges and opportunities of public health in a university environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in an inclusive team environment
  • Ability to professionally and effectively work with employees, donors and community partners and in the management of related sensitive information, while respecting privacy and confidentiality
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrates organizational and time-management skills
  • Expert skills in Microsoft Office Suite and platforms for data sharing and management
  • Strong customer service experience required

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in administration, business, organizational psychology or closely-related field and/or equivalent combination of education and 3-5 years of experience working in a project management environment.
  • Experience working with public health agencies, social services organizations, non-profit sectors, health systems, and private management consult firms.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) ® certification.
