Description

The School of Education is seeking candidates for the role of Instructional Coach.

The College of New Jersey is seeking to hire Instructional Coaches to oversee tutor performance and provide guidance to tutors during  after school programs. Tutoring sites will be held at various locations, including schools, Boys and Girls Clubs, and Y Alliance sites throughout the state. 

Each Instructional Coach will be responsible for overseeing tutor performance at two sites. Placement of site locations vary.  This is an after-school program, and programs will typically run from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Instructional Coaches will be required to be available virtually or in-person on days when tutoring occurs. 


The tutoring program will run approximately from January 24, 2022 through May 20, 2022. 

There will be two weeks of paid training, one in December and one in January; Coaches will select times to attend various training sessions, which will be held at various times to allow for maximum flexibility.

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Works with the Site Coordinator to develop strong relationships with the site staff and community

  • Ensures that Tutors have the necessary materials needed to help scholars succeed

  • Work closely with program staff and participate in bi-weekly meetings with other Instructional Coaches

  • Apprise the program leadership team of issues that may arise immediately and help work to resolve them

  • Work with Site Coordinators to review tutor performance and provide guidance as needed

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in field of education

  • New Jersey Certification of Criminal History (fingerprint form)

  • Minimum of one year of teaching experience

  • Past history of instructional coaching

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills

Employer Qualifications:

  • Final offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check and employment authorization verification.
  • All persons living, coming to campus (including vendors and visitors) or an extension of the campus (e.g., off-site classes), or participating in college-sponsored programs (e.g., internships, student teaching, clinical placements, travel, community engagement activities) must complete a daily self-checkup to monitor their health and possible exposure to the coronavirus on the days they are on campus.
  • All persons, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a mask while working indoors.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Knowledge of best practices in teaching

  • Some knowledge of implementation of the Danielson Framework

  • Excellent communication and written skills, particularly in providing feedback to others in a constructive manner

  • Reliable transportation to and from work sites

Compensation

Coaches will be compensated at the rate of $40 per hour, paid every two weeks. This compensation includes training. Coaches will also be reimbursed for mileage expenses or transportation costs as well as for any material purchases made to ensure program success.
