Economics Department Chair

Economics: Department Chair in the Department of Economics and appointment at the rank of Professor.  The department chair leads the strategic initiatives of the department and is responsible for the operation of the department, including budgeting, staffing, scheduling, supervision, and mentoring. The department chair will serve as a member of the Farmer School of Business’s Executive Committee and will report to the Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs and Personnel of the Farmer School of Business.

 

The Department of Economics is in the Farmer School of Business and currently has 19 tenured/tenure-track faculty, three clinical faculty, and three visiting faculty in Economics. The department supports undergraduate Economics degrees through the Business school and the College of Arts and Science, as well as a Master’s of Economics degree. The department values high quality teaching and research. The department has approximately 700 undergraduate majors (combined) and 15 students in the Master’s program. Required: Doctorate in economics or a closely related discipline applicable to teaching, research and scholarship in the economics area. For appointment of rank of Professor, applicants must have an established record of teaching, research with high-quality publications and service.

 

Consideration may be given to applicants with demonstrated effectiveness in an administrative capacity and the ability to interact with a wide range of constituents including faculty, students, administration, alumni, and the business community.
