The Increasing Dual Enrollment Access (I.D.E.A. Project at TCNJ) program is a grant-funded initiative through the State of New Jersey’s Opportunity Meets Innovation Challenge Grant. Its goal is to assist up to 120 students annually achieve entrance to college and stay on-track to their degree completion. Direct participants in the I.D.E.A. Project will include three public school districts (Trenton, Ewing, and Willingboro); 120 high school students in grades 9-12; 18 high school teachers; and 15-18 faculty from TCNJ. Students in the 9th and 10th grades will participate in a summer bridge program designed to increase student readiness and create a pipeline to a postsecondary credential. Students in the 11th and 12th grades will take dual enrollment courses with a TCNJ faculty instructor. TCNJ faculty will also provide professional development and training for partner high school teachers. This program will provide not only affordable pre-college opportunities and equip students for a post-pandemic economy, but it will also increase student success and develop a pathway towards college completion. 


The I.D.E.A. Early College Coordinator assists the Vice President for Enrollment Management with general oversight & management of the I.D.E.A. Project at TCNJ, which includes grant oversight.  This is a two year, grant funded position through September 30, 2023.  

Main Responsibilities

  •  Assists with the coordination of the I.D.E.A. Team
  •  Prepares and submits quarterly & semi-annual reports
  •  Assists the VP of Enrollment Management in the drafting of a dual enrollment policy and its navigation through the Governance process
  •  Assists the VP of Enrollment Management with the management of the Early College High School (ECHS) programs
  •  Assists the VP of Enrollment Management and the Carver Foundation in the coordination and facilitation of the summer bridge program
  •  Assists the VP of Enrollment Management and the Dean of Education with the oversight of the qualified faculty pathway process


Coordination of I.D.E.A. Team

  •  Helps to develop and facilitate IDEA Team agendas and timelines
  •  Manages the scheduling for Team and subcommittee meetings
  •   Submits quarterly & semi-annual reports
  •  Gathers information from campus and/or foundation stakeholders
  •  Drafts the narrative for the reports based on gathered information
  •  Ensures accuracy and timely reporting of data, as per grant guidelines
  •  Serves as primary contact for the external evaluator of the grant
  •  Assists the VP of Enrollment Management in the drafting of a dual enrollment policy and its navigation through the Governance process
  •  Works with the VP for Enrollment Management to manage the ECHS Programs
  •  Primary contact for communication with the target school districts regarding the ECHS
  •  Works with the IDEA Team to assist with collaborative programming with the high schools and TCNJ, specifically related to training
  •  Assists with the planning and facilitation of summer bridge programs
  •  Serves as the primary contact for duties related to the summer bridge program
  •  Provides support for planning and implementation of summer bridge program
  •  Serves as the liaison with the Carver Foundation for the collaborative programming with TCNJ related to the summer bridge events and activities
  •  Works with the I.D.E.A. Team to help manage the Qualified Faculty Instructor Pathway Program
  •  Works with the School of Education to coordinate the trainings for the Faculty Instructor Pathway Program

Required Qualifications:

  •  MA degree in Humanities/Social Sciences; Humanities/Social Sciences Education; or Developmental Education
  •  Strong written and verbal communication skills
  •  Experience with budget management, reporting and grant oversights
  •  Experience in higher education and/or secondary school administration
  •  Ability to work with Deans, Administrators and other high-level officials
  •  Ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications

  •  Proficient in the use of MS Suite of applications (Word, Excel, Access) and Google applications (Google Docs, Google Forms, etc.)
  •  Ability to start in position by mid/late October
