 The MIT Center for Real Estate (CRE) seeks a graduate student administrator to oversee all academic administrative matters for the CRE’s MSRED graduate degree program and monitor the progress of students toward completion of their degrees. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Advise faculty on academic administrative matters
  • Work to diversify the CRE pipeline, maintain equity across the student experience, and increase belonging throughout the program
  • Serve as a liaison to a variety of on-campus offices
  • Manage the graduate admissions process
  • Serve as an advisor to graduate students on academic and related issues
  • Collaborate on assessing the need for and initiating new programs addressing academic performance/success, health, safety, and student well-being
  • Manage curricular updates
  • Develop, schedule, and lead new student orientation
  • Process academic transactions
  • Assign, track, and process TA appointments and process appointments for international visiting students
  • Oversee, monitor, and report on MSRED budget and financial activity
  • Serve on a variety of committees
  • Participate in strategic planning
  • Perform other duties as needed

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least three years of relevant experience in an academic environment
  • Process orientation
  • Flexibility
  • Ability to handle a variety of duties in an environment with competing priorities and resolve complex issues requiring analysis of information from multiple sources
  • Excellent organizational, customer service, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Discretion, diplomacy, and good judgment with sensitive and confidential information/issues
  • Proficiency with MS Office, website maintenance (Drupal), online survey software (SurveyMonkey, Doodle Poll), and email marketing platforms (Emma, Constant Contact)
  • Experience with international policies, procedures, and visa issues regarding international students and visiting scholars. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience and expertise in higher education student services
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Google Docs, Stellar, Canvas, Concur, GradApply, Grade20, WTW, GAP, FileMakerPro, CourseLeaf, WordPress, Zoom, WebSIS, and other admissions- and registrar-related database management systems
