Job Description Summary
Responsible for the overall financial management of the Grant portfolio and other financial matters of the School/Center. Will manage proposal development, budget development and related pre-award activities for diverse sponsor portfolio. Manage post award activities including account set up, monitor and review of all sponsored projects expenditures including fund projections. Monitor and enforce compliance with sponsor guidelines and meet with Principal Investigators to discuss and advice on any financial issues related to their portfolio. Will actively participate in specific projects and will be greatly involved in a more complicated grants with multiple sub-contracts.
Primary purpose of this role is to support the research activities of a specific School/Center. Under limited supervision, this position will manage the sponsored program funds from pre-award through post-award while working with Principal Investigators on proposal development, budget development and related pre-award requirements and submission for a diverse sponsor portfolio. The individual will also manage the post-award processes including monitoring and review of all charges, reconciliation of accounts, and preparation of monthly financial reports for Principal Investigators. Consults with research faculty in the preparation of sponsored project budget and proposals; review proposals for compliance with sponsor and University policies and ensure Regulatory Affairs requirements are satisfied and that Conflict of Interest statements are submitted when required. Provides full accounting services, reconciling budgets, processing payroll, financial reporting; monitors grant expenditures for compliance with sponsor regulations and guidelines.
Grants Manager A: Provide pre- and post-award research and financial administrative support for individual investigators within the Department of Emergency Medicine and PM&R. Monitor grant expenditures for compliance and take/recommend corrective actions as needed; update payroll allocations and prepare payroll reallocations as needed. Produce and distribute specialized research-related financial reports for investigators. Advise department faculty on extramural, university and school research administration. Manage post award activity for department in accordance with university policy. Act as liaison to the University Office of Research Services and PSOM's Office of Research Support Services. Act as Penn ERA Research Support Provider and assist in preparation and submission of Research Inventory System (RIS) and effort reports.
The Grants Manager B will work independently and will actively participate in specific projects, including the annual budget submission. Will supervise Administrative Assistant.
