Job Description Summary
The Research Project Manager A/B is responsible for the successful planning, management and execution of study operations for research trials that adapt existing behavioral sciences approaches across multiple domains to improve health and healthcare delivery focused on cardiovascular outcomes. They will oversee the successful execution of a new program to improve physical activity rates among cancer survivors at elevated risk for developing cardiovascular disease, as well as contribute to multiple efforts to diagnose and treat Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) across Penn Medicine. This will include the management of a randomized control trial, as well as a with a multiphase research plan leading to the successful development, execution, and dissemination of a quality improvement intervention within the health system.

The Project Manager A will support the Project Director in the management and coordination of both projects, communicating with collaborators and stakeholders, tracking multiple works streams. Project Manager A will manage protocol development, study set-up, and implementation. They will oversee recruitment, screening and enrollment, data collection via electronic processes, database management and quality assurance activities, study document development and management, daily conduct and management of study interventions.

They will track and manage study budgets and directly supervise research staff. The PM-A will be responsible for IRB correspondence and regulatory compliance and tracking of medical incidents and adverse events. The PM-A will communicate regularly with leadership on progress and assist with the preparation of manuscripts and submissions of publications.

In addition to the above, the Project Manager B will have demonstrated strong research and administrative skills to provide high-level management for the FH pilots and RCT. The Project Manager B will take a more central leadership role in the management of the initiative, directly communicating with internal and external collaborators and stakeholders, as well as hire, train and supervise research staff.

The Project Manager B will be responsible for managing and tracking multiple study budgets as well as manage the timely submission of grant reporting to the sponsors. The Project Manager B will meet regularly with study leadership to provide study updates but will function independently in carrying out most responsibilities. The role will include regular contact with internal and external entities of importance to manage the execution of agreements and subcontracts.

Qualifications:

BA/BS is required, Master's degree preferred; 3-5 years related or relevant experience required. The position requires strong organizational and problem solving skills. An interest and experience with behavioral science solutions are preferred; including comfort with new technologies, study devices and web-based platforms and software. A familiarity with electronic health records is a plus. The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively and efficiently both independently and as part of a team, with the ability to thrive in a diverse working environment. Proficiency and comfort with Microsoft applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) as well as web based communications and data-base/tracking tools (e.g. Slack, RedCap, Zoom) is required.

They must thrive in multi-tasking environments, and be a self-starter with a results orientation. Understanding of regulatory compliance issues required. Strong interpersonal communication skills are essential with the ability to communicate effectively across the ecosystem of academic researchers, clinical providers and local communities. High accuracy, dependability, and attention to detail will be vital to success in the position.
