The University of South Carolina Board of Trustees announces an international search to recruit a new President. The Board is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader who will bring all the University’s constituents together to continue the school’s ascension and achieve its strategic goals.

The President is the chief executive of the University of South Carolina’s flagship campus in Columbia, which enrolls 35,000 students and is a proud member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The President is also responsible for the other seven University System campuses located throughout the state. The next President will be a visionary who possesses the leadership ability to guide a complex, major public research university and statewide system to ever greater prominence. The next President will have unquestioned integrity, exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, and a dedication to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. It is important that the selected person have a profound appreciation of the critical role the University plays in the state and the lives of its citizens. The next President must be student-centered, have an appreciation for a world-class faculty, be an effective fund- and friend-raiser for the University, and be able to work with the legislature and other government officials.
