Manager, Case Management Services

The Dean of Students Office at The College of New Jersey invites diverse applicants for a non-clinical Manager of Case Management Services position. This is a twelve-month full time position that will provide direct support to the TCNJ Cares program and the Dean of Students Office within the Division of Student Affairs.
The Manager of Case Management Services is responsible for providing outreach, support, advocacy, assistance, and follow-up to all students referred through the TCNJ Cares process. These referrals typically relate to students in distress, or those for whom their ability to successfully manage the college environment has been impeded in some way. This person will engage directly with students, parents/guardians, and key College staff on a regular basis. They will provide direct service/coaching to students through individual meetings, but will not provide clinical services or mental health counseling.
Additionally, the Manager of Case Management Services will assist the Associate Dean of Students through the management of student crises and/or emergencies. Examples may include but are not limited to incidents of student:
- suicide ideation/attempts,
- significant classroom disruptions,
- significant behavioral concerns,
- physical assaults,
- sexual assaults,
- criminal activity,
- escalating student conflicts, or
- medical/other emergencies.
All critical incident response will occur in conjunction/conference with appropriate campus partners (e.g., The Dean/Associate Dean of Students, Counseling and Prevention Services, Campus Police Services, Academic Affairs, Records & Registration, Student Financial Aid, etc.). The Case Manager will assist students in coordinating academic accommodations, administrative liaising with on-campus stakeholders, etc.
Further, on a regular basis, the Case Manager will communicate and coordinate with a wide range of department constituents and off-campus agencies. The Case Manager will be responsible for maintaining student case records, confidential files, and will become proficient at utilizing the student data management system; currently Symplicity-Advocate. In order to coordinate student outreach and create individualized action plans, the Case Manager will work frequently with staff in the following areas:
- Accessibility Resource Center,
- Educational Opportunity Fund program,
- Mental Health Services,
- Residential Education & Housing,
- Title IX and Sexual Misconduct,
- Center for Student Success,
- Records & Registration,
- Student Financial Aid, and
- Appropriate third party or community-based resources.
Finally, the Case Manager will develop and implement workshops and training sessions to assist College employees identify and address concerning situations involving students.
Required qualifications for this position include:
- Graduation from an accredited college with a Master’s degree.
- Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute experience on a year for year basis.
- One (1) year of professional experience in different aspects of administration and business practices; including design and implementation of policy and procedures, vendor service contracts and improving and updating management practices.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Masters degree in Social Work, Counseling, Higher Education, or related field preferred.
- Experience in higher education and crisis management environment preferred.
- Experience with technology, website development, and/or social media campaigns preferred.

The state title for this position is Professional Services Specialist 4. It is aligned with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) bargaining unit. The starting salary for this position is range 21, step 1, $55,338.25. This position includes a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental and prescription, as well as generous sick and vacation leave.
