Provost and Dean of the Faculty

Provost and Dean of the Faculty

Norwich University, the oldest private Senior Military College in the country, invites inquiries, nominations and applications for the position of Provost and Dean of the Faculty (Provost). The University offers a unique learning environment that combines the structure and discipline of a military education with a comprehensive liberal arts and professional education. With its distinctive history and mission, Norwich is committed to preparing both civilian students and those in the Corps of Cadets to become critical thinkers as well as capable doers so that, upon graduation, they will be ready to make tangible contributions to their workplaces and to the world at large.

Nestled in the Green Mountains of central Vermont, Norwich University is located less than 20 minutes from the state capital of Montpelier and a few hours' drive from Boston, New York, and Montreal. Rural but not remote, the scenic Northfield campus is community oriented and home to students from 46 states and 33 countries.

Norwich seeks an experienced and innovative individual who will embrace the collegiality of the campus community and collaborate on a variety of campus-wide initiatives designed to further its success while honoring the traditions of this robust institution. Reporting directly to Dr. Mark Anarumo, Colonel, USAF (Ret), the 24th President of Norwich University, and serving as the senior member of his Cabinet, the Provost will demonstrate diverse experiences and talents across a variety of functions of the University. Building upon Norwich's proud history of innovation and leadership in higher education, the Provost will articulate an integrative vision for the distinctive education that Norwich University provides. The Provost will also provide the leadership and support necessary to ensure the integrity and excellence of the academic programs; support the faculty's teaching and scholarship; and advocate for faculty and the academic programs within the University, community, and external regulatory agencies, as required. As the groundwork is being laid for the University's next strategic plan, the Provost will play an important role in shaping and implementing the plan that will lead Norwich University into its third century. The new Provost is expected to assume office no later than July 1, 2022.
