Brief Summary of Job Duties

The Licensed Masters-Prepared Psychotherapist reports to the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) or designee and is assigned duties as specified herein. The Licensed Masters-Prepared Psychotherapist will provide high quality clinical services; community psychology/outreach and consultation services; and may participate in training of doctoral interns and post-doctoral fellows. All CAPS staff are expected to have awareness, knowledge, and skills to effectively provide professional service to a diverse student body.  All the Licensed Masters-Prepared Psychotherapist's activities are performed within the limits of standards and ethical principles of their professional organization, as well as applicable legal mandates for mental health professionals in the State of California.

 

Minimum Requirements

• Masters in Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy.

• Current, valid license in California as a as LCSW or LMFT

• Out of state licensees have 180 days to complete licensure requirements in the State of California

• Thorough knowledge associated with providing evaluation, diagnosis and psychotherapy services.

• Thorough knowledge of applicable laws and standards of professional conduct.

• Thorough knowledge of diagnostic /assessment methodologies.

• Highly effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

• Thorough skills associated with conducting complex diagnosis, problem-solving and critical-thinking.

• Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner with diverse client group, members of the medical staff and faculty.

• Ability to conduct complex analysis and develop and present recommendations and course of treatment.

• Knowledge of electronic / medical records systems.

• Computer literacy.

 

Desirable Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of psychology, community, and culture and/or experience providing counseling to communities with intersectional / interlocking identities including but not limited to Latino/Latina, Asian, Asian Pacific Islander, African American, Middle Eastern, International, and LGBTQIA+

• Experience or interests in working students that present with issues related to complex trauma 

• Experience with crisis intervention and/or coordination

• Interest and experience in clinical supervision and training

 

Special Conditions of Employment

• Credentials verification for clinical practitioner- license to practice in the state of CA or eligible within 6 months

• Mandated reporting requirements of Child Abuse

• Satisfactory criminal history background check

• Ability to be credentialed and privileged

• Occasional night and weekend hours will be required

• UCSB is a Tobacco-Free environment

 

Pay Rate/Range: Step 2 - $77,077 to Step 5 - $81,781 (commensurate with experience)
