The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business invites applicants for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer, 3-year renewable term position in our Operations, Technology & Information Management area, with a specialization in Food and Beverage Management.  The intended placement for this position is in the School of Hotel Administration, with an intended start date of July 1, 2022.  This position will be based in Ithaca, NY.

 

The position includes teaching and/or team-teaching both lecture-and laboratory-based courses in the area of food and beverage operations and management. Applicants should be able to teach/co-teach food and beverage operations management courses including, but not limited to our three current core courses: Introduction to Foodservice Operations, Foodservice Management: Theory and Practice, Restaurant Management, and other specialty elective courses.  Duties will include but will not be limited to, instruction in lecture and laboratory sessions, preparing course materials, grading, advising students, conducting classroom instruction, and performing general service duties for the Operations Technology and Information Management Area, the Hotel School, and the College of Business. 

 

The candidate should have extensive knowledge and notable practical experience in the area of food and beverage management broadly defined, including restaurant management, food production management, beverage management, food safety, and restaurant related technology and systems. A Master’s degree or equivalent and relevant teaching experience (or equivalent) are the minimum qualifications required for the position.  Rank and salary are competitive, negotiable, and will be based on experience.

 

The School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University is the top-ranked hospitality management program worldwide, with undergraduate, masters, and Ph.D. programs. Rank and Salary: The position’s teaching responsibilities begin in the Fall 2022 semester, and appointment is for three years, renewable. A new hire will be considered for promotion from lecturer to senior lecturer after appropriate quality and length of service. Salary is commensurate with qualifications.
