The Board of Directors of Chestnut Hill College (www.chc.edu), an independent, Roman Catholic, liberal arts institution sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph, is accepting nominations and applications for the position of President. The President of Chestnut Hill College is the Chief Executive Officer of the College and serves with the support and under the direction of the Board. The President is the primary liaison between the Board and the administration and is responsible for executing a strategic plan in alignment with the mission of the College which is as follows: Chestnut Hill College, an inclusive Catholic community rooted in and animated by the Mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph, is committed to a transformative holistic education, just relationships, innovative thinking and responsible action toward a more unified global society and sustainable Earth.

Chestnut Hill College was founded in 1924 by the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia as a college for women. The College went co-educational in 1980 for all graduate programs and in 2003 for all undergraduate programs. The College is located at the northwestern edge of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in a bucolic setting overlooking the Wissahickon Creek. The Chestnut Hill campus is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Since its inception, the College has offered a rigorous liberal arts education that provides under 2,000 post-graduate, graduate and undergraduate students with a broad background in the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. The College has a Doctor of Psychology Program accredited by the American Psychological Association. As a member of SEPCHE (Southeastern Pennsylvania Consortium for Higher Education), Chestnut Hill pursues a collaborative approach to higher education with eight other local institutions. Through membership in the ACSSJ (Association of Colleges of Sisters of Saint Joseph), Chestnut Hill College offers its students opportunities to study at eight other colleges throughout the United States. In 2007, the College moved to NCAA Division II, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and currently boasts 19 men’s and women’s athletic teams.

The next President must be an innovative and strategic leader capitalizing on the College’s accomplishments of the 30-year foundation built by the outgoing President, Dr. Carol Jean Vale, SSJ.  With intellectual and marketing vision and a demonstrated knowledge of the highly competitive liberal arts college market in the North East, the President will advance the College to new levels of excellence.
