Executive Director of Summer and Intersession Programs

Advanced Academic Programs, Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences

The Johns Hopkins University

Baltimore, Maryland

The Krieger School of Arts and Sciences at The Johns Hopkins University (JHU) is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as the next Executive Director of Summer and Intersession Programs (ED). The ED is responsible for the development and management of pre-college, summer term, and intersession courses for the Krieger School. The ED is also responsible for the management of the summer term and intersession course portfolio for the Whiting School of Engineering. This is an exciting opportunity for a leader with a proven track record of strategically growing summer pre-college programs to further elevate and grow these programs at a world-renowned research university.

Located within the Office of Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) in the Krieger School, the Office of Summer and Intersession Programs (OSIP) offers a wide range of for-credit and enrichment-oriented programs, both on campus and online, for approximately 5,000 students enrolled in summer and intersession programs. The ED will have an opportunity to innovate, build, and strategically grow summer session programs in alignment with JHU’s academic mission, and further integrate the summer term into the University’s academic calendar. The ED will collaborate with faculty and administrators to develop academic courses and curriculum; work closely with AAP’s enrollment management and marketing and communications teams to increase enrollment; double revenue to approximately $20 million per year through increased enrollments and effective financial management; and support the growth and development of OSIP staff and instructors.

The next ED will have the opportunity to re-envision the OSIP office while leading and growing a talented team of three full-time staff and up to six seasonal staff. The ED will have competencies in multiple areas of higher education management, including student affairs, budget oversight and management, relevant CRM systems and data analysis tools, summer program development and growth, and a proven track record in generating new revenue streams.
