The University of West Florida (UWF) in Pensacola Florida is seeking a visionary, collegial and energetic Dean (full time) for the Usha Kundu, MD College of Health (UKCOH), with meaningful experiences in academic and business operations, collaborations, and community outreach. The Dean will lead a college consisting of the departments of Health Sciences and Administration, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Movement Sciences and Health, Psychology, Public Health, and the School of Nursing.

 

Reporting to the Provost, the Dean for the Usha Kundu, MD College of Health (UKCOH) will serve as the school's chief academic and administrative officer providing visionary, effective leadership, and a deep commitment to student success. The Dean will be responsible for all areas of college administration and operations including, but not limited to, the coordination of academic programs, curricula, and accreditation; student recruitment; retention, and graduation; faculty and staff recruitment, retention, and evaluation; strategic budgeting and resource allocation; coordination of external fundraising, grants, and contracts; and management of facilities and equipment.

 

About the Usha Kundu, MD College of Health

The Usha Kundu, MD College of Health serves more than 3,115 undergraduate and graduate students. Enrollment in the college has increased nearly eight (8) percent over the past five years. While primarily serving students from Florida and Alabama, the College attracts students from across the nation.

 

The Usha Kundu, MD College of Health provides a student-oriented learning environment with engaging faculty who enable students to link textbook skills with real-world problem solving and clinical practice. The academically prepared and professionally experienced faculty members are both educators and mentors.

 

Undergraduate and graduate degrees are offered, with an array of certificate programs. The Usha Kundu, MD College of Health consists of seven (7) departments and programs.

 

Salary:

Commensurate with experience.

 

Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will have earned a Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in one of the disciplines represented in the College from an accredited institution and will have a record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service to quality for appointment at the rank of tenured full professor within the College. The successful candidate will also have significant administrative and supervisory excellence in higher education and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and collegiality. Other desired qualifications are as follows:

  • Strong leadership skills to address the challenges of Florida’s performance-based funding model.
  • Experience with budget management and strategic planning.
  • Experience with professional program accreditation
  • Experience with online education in health-related fields
  • The ability to lead curriculum design, program assessment, and faculty development
  • Experience with development and fundraising, with a proven ability to attract external support
  • The ability to foster an open, creative, and collaborative environment within the college and among other academic colleges
  • Commitment to active involvement and leadership in professional organizations at the local, state, and national level
