Health Management and Policy Department Head and MHA Program Director

The University of Iowa College of Public Health seeks two dedicated and experienced leaders to serve in leadership roles: Health Management and Policy Department Head and MHA Program Director.

Reporting directly to Dean Edith Parker, the Department Head will set a compelling and inspiring vision for Health Management and Policy (HMP), propelling the college forward and effecting transformational change. The department head will recruit and retain excellent, diverse faculty and provide strong and effective mentorship; foster a supportive, collaborative and inclusive environment for all faculty, staff and students; and guide innovation in curriculum and educational programs.

The MHA Program Director will foster curricular innovation and champion student success. The program director will prioritize diversity, equity and inclusion among students and instructors while incorporating those core values into the MHA curriculum. The next director will diversify experiential learning and networking opportunities for students, promote research and scholarship, and enhance interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration.

HMP faculty serve as PIs on more than $15 million in research grants and contracts. The department’s PhD, MHA, EMHA and MPH programs are renowned for excellence in recruiting, training and placing graduates. The MHA program is ranked No. 8 nationally, and the PhD program is ranked No. 13 among the 25 Best Health Management and Policy PhD Programs.

The College of Public Health takes a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to addressing public health challenges and to training the next generation of public health educators, researchers and leaders.
