ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:

POSITION SUMMARY:
This Advisor/Recruiter position is under the supervision of the Director of Admissions. The Admissions Recruiter/Advisor supports the recruitment and enrollment efforts of the Office of Admissions. The Advisor has considerable direct contact with prospective or newly accepted graduate and professional students. This position requires considerable contact with potential and current students through one-on-one advising and group sessions, recruitment events on and off campus as well as virtual events, social media and coordination of the on-site interviews. This contact requires demonstrated human relations and communication skills as well as the ability to maintain confidentiality of applicant data. The Admissions Recruiter/Advisor is a complex administrative position that should maintain extensive knowledge of university admission requirements, policies and procedures in order to interpret those regarding admissions. Incumbents must be able to implement a comprehensive recruitment strategy within a specific territory or specific population of students and advise students on admission requirements. As such, the job duties are split between the office and travel. The advisor is expected to possess extensive knowledge about the College as a whole, professional and graduate curriculum, program policies, procedures, and student support services.

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive recruitment plan. Plan and activities are finalized in consultation with the Director of Admissions. This includes the planning and execution of events for prospective and accepted students and securing student delegates for events.
  • Plan and travel to high schools, colleges and universities, and career/health recruiting events to conduct presentations. Develops and maintains close relationships with advisors and works closely with the Shared Student Services Pre Admissions team and other USF Health recruiters. Maintains inquiry database and draft regular reports to the Director of Admissions on prospective student contacts, follow up, recruitment and yield events, and budget requests.
  • Interview day coordination to include securing space, scheduling candidates and faculty/staff interviewers, and troubleshooting day of. Assists with conducting interview day overview presentations.
  • Development of recruitment/marketing materials in compliance with university policies. Materials are finalized in consultation with the Director of Admissions. This includes materials disseminated via social media channels.
  • Effectively advise prospective graduate and professional students regarding academic admissions requirements, appropriate course selection, admissions policies and procedures, and campus resources in person and in group settings, and by telephone, correspondence, email, and virtual forums.
  • Perform related duties as required or deemed necessary to meet the admissions and advising goals within the Advisor's scope of responsibility.
  • Serve on admissions committee when necessary, in absence of Director of Admissions.
  • Consults with director of admissions regarding policies, trends, and program needs following specific instructions. Makes recommendations for improvement to overall processes. Provide support for quality assurance for Admissions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • This position requires a Master's degree in Marketing, Communication, Education or other related field; or a Bachelor's degree in those same fields with a minimum of one year of directly related experience. Alternatively, in specialized academic areas, the position may require a degree in that field of study. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this position.
  • The successful candidate for this position will have a friendly demeanor and an outgoing personality with a strong philosophy of customer service. Position requires travel within the State of Florida and may include out of state travel. Reliability, dependability and the ability to work independently under minimal supervision are essential. Professional work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of internal and external constituents at all levels are required. The incumbent should possess knowledge of admissions and advising processes, strong oral and written communication skills, the ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple priorities in a team atmosphere, and maintain confidentiality of information. This position requires an individual with skill in exercising initiative, resourcefulness, and sound judgment with an ability to solve problems and make decisions. Must have the ability to plan, organize, and prioritize ongoing and new projects necessary to implementing admissions and recruiting activities. Must have a solid understanding of process improvement and be able to anticipate needs. Should be proficient in MS Office Suite, databases and spreadsheets. Experience in higher education environment required.

PREFERRED:

  • Master's degree and previous higher education experience in Admissions.
