Randolph College seeks an experienced and innovative individual to serve as the Director of Alumnae and Alumni Relations. The director is a key member of the Institutional Advancement leadership team and provides strategic direction and management for both the Alumnae and Alumni Relations office and the Alumnae and Alumni Association, working in concert with its Board of Directors. 

Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the successful candidate will lead a comprehensive alumnae and alumni relations program that increases and supports meaningful engagement across a diverse range of graduates, builds support for the College's fundraising goals and initiatives, and helps ensure alumnae and alumni loyalty and pride.

The position will focus on delivering excellence, efficiency, and innovation in alumnae and alumni related activities to include reunions, homecoming, alumni events, affinity groups, volunteer recruitment and engagement, leadership cultivation, support of development efforts, student recruitment and retention activities, and young alumnae and alumni career development initiatives. The Director will demonstrate knowledge about diversity, equity and inclusion best practices, and proven alumni engagement strategy.

In addition, the Director will be responsible for budget development, shared oversight of the alumni database, and coordination of alumni print, digital, and social media communications. The Director develops and manages an annual series of quantifiable measurement data for the Office of Alumnae and Alumni while also being responsible for ensuring the creation of consistent messages that support the overall communications strategy of the College.

The Director has a key role in building relationships with alumnae and alumni that informs the annual fund and major gift pipeline for the development operation while working collaboratively and creatively to enhance the interest of donors.

Basic Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have at least 5 years of direct alumni relations experience in sophisticated and complex organizations. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in higher education alumni relations organizations and /or nonprofit fundraising environments.

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred. Ability to travel extensively, currently estimated at 20%, including attendance at alumni events. Oversight of an alumni program and a background that includes event planning, fundraising, and communications required.

  • Appreciation of the mission and history of Randolph College;
  • Knowledge of Raisers Edge or other fundraising related databases;
  • Strong leadership ability, initiative, and excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience in planning and executing events;
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, efficient, and able to balance multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment;
  • Able to understand, address, and balance the concerns and priorities of different constituencies;
  • Self-Starter and strategic thinker who leads by example and measures success by results;
  • Good listener who is intuitive, perceptive and insightful;
  • Familiarity with volunteer alumni associations and boards;
  • Superior drive, enthusiasm, a sense of urgency, and a desire to create and build;
  • Knowledge of best practices in the field of alumni relations and demonstrated accomplishment in fostering productive relationships with volunteers and developing volunteer leadership; and
  • Excellent analytical and organizational abilities and customer service focus.
