Psychologists will provide individual therapy to assess the level of pathology and to determine appropriateness of a short-term therapeutic modality for students with serious psychological concerns. Assess for suicidal ideation and provide appropriate crisis intervention services. Conduct culturally appropriate therapeutic interventions. Coordinate care with Student Health and provide on and off campus referrals as needed. Provide consultation to staff, faculty, and students as requested. Develop and deliver psychoeducational programs to address the mental health needs of underrepresented populations, particularly the Latinx student population. Psychologists are expected to participate in campus organizations which have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and cultural issues. Be able to approach clinical service provision from the perspective of Latinx Psychology and culture. Train and supervise staff, interns, practicum students, or peers as appropriate. Maintain current license to practice psychology in the state of California and must continue to meet state requirements for license renewal. Occasional night and weekend hours will be required

 

Minimum Requirements

• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA accredited doctoral program.

• License to practice psychology in the State of California or eligible within 6 months.

• Ability to be credentialed and privileged.

• Thorough knowledge of applicable laws and standards of professional conduct. 

• Thorough knowledge of diagnostic / psychological testing methodologies. 

• Highly effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

• Thorough skills associated with conducting complex diagnosis, problem-solving and critical-thinking.

• Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner with a diverse client group, members of the medical staff and faculty.

• Ability to conduct complex analysis and develop and present recommendations and courses of treatment.

• Knowledge of electronic / medical records systems.

• Computer literacy.

• Demonstrated experience working with Latinx communities.

• Demonstrated knowledge of Latinx psychology and culture.

• Demonstrated ability to provide culturally appropriate therapy. interventions.

• Ability and experience in conducting Psychotherapy in Spanish.

 

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience working in a university counseling center.

• Demonstrated knowledge of LGBTQIA+ psychology, community, and culture and/or experience providing counseling to communities with intersectional / interlocking identities.

• Experience with crisis intervention and/or coordination.

 

Special Conditions of Employment

• Credentials verification for clinical practitioner- license to practice. psychology in the state of CA or eligible within 6 months.

• Mandated reporting requirements of Child Abuse.

• Satisfactory criminal history background check.

• Ability to be credentialed and privileged.

• Occasional night and weekend hours will be required.
