Teachers College seeks an energetic, student-centered, skilled admissions professional to join the Enrollment Management team as Senior Assistant/Assistant Director of Admission and Coordinator of Diversity Initiatives. The person in this role will coordinate recruitment and enrollment for their student caseload and collaborate with Admission colleagues to execute college-wide recruitment efforts. This position will also support the College's strategic priority of institutionalizing diversity, equity, and inclusion by spearheading diversity/access recruitment initiatives for new students and serving as a critical liaison from Enrollment Management to stakeholders across the College. Associate Director of Admission and will work closely with the Director of Admission & New Student Enrollment to achieve enrollment goals and objectives.

The Associate/Assistant Director of Admission will be responsible for:


  • Leading the design and implementation of initiatives, programs, and trainings designed to recruit, select, and enroll a diverse and academically talented class of new students
  • Developing and maintaining partnerships with stakeholders across the College to support diversity programming (diversity and community affairs office, faculty/staff, Financial Aid, Alumni Relations, Student Affairs, student organizations, etc.)
  • Serving as a resource and consultant to staff and faculty within the Division of Enrollment Management and across the College, ensuring that all programs and processes are designed to support students from historically underrepresented and other diverse backgrounds
  • Serving as the College's primary liaison to third-party organizations focused on serving underrepresented students, including but not limited to: Gates Millennium Scholars, The Posse Foundation, The Institute for the Recruitment of Teachers, and McNair Scholars
  • Overseeing admission activities for one or two academic departments (or programs), including close collaboration with program faculty and staff
  • Strategizing and implementing prospective student recruitment and admitted student yield efforts for assigned department(s)
  • Facilitating the decision process for assigned academic programs, including finalizing and proofing admission decisions, and regularly reporting admission funnel analysis to department contacts and senior staff
  • In the case of some programs, reviewing and evaluating candidates for admission
  • Counseling prospective students in-person, by web, and by telephone; responding to inquiries via email
  • Working collaboratively with Office of Admission team for all college-wide recruitment events and activities
  • Leading on-campus, off-campus and virtual information sessions
  • Recruiting applicants at local, national, and international outreach events
  • Assuming overall responsibility for Office of Admission when Director and Associate Directors are unavailable
  • Engaging with all guests of the Office of Admission and Teachers College in a courteous, respectful and gracious manner, per customer service guidelines
  • Assisting with other duties and projects as assigned

    Skills & Qualifications:
    Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of admission or student services-related experience in higher education, specifically with diverse populations and/or on diversity initiatives. Bachelor's degree and valid driver's license required.Master's degree preferred.
