Online and Statewide Academic Program Chair– NAU Online #605406
NAU is seeking a proven leader to serve as Chair of NAU Online and Statewide Academic Programs. This position includes oversight of the Master of Organizational Leadership, Bachelors of Applied Human Behavior, Emergency Management, Industrial Leadership, Justice Studies, Public Administration, and Strategic Leadership programs located online and at campuses around the state of Arizona.
NAU Online is seeking a talented professional to manage and direct its expansion efforts of existing, and the development of new online and in-person, statewide, academic programming. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Innovative Educational Initiatives, the Academic Program Chair for NAU Online and Statewide is responsible for the vision, leadership, and administration of the online and statewide programs. The best candidate for this position will be someone who: is a proactive problem solver, thrives as part of a team, is able to analyze and synthesize new information quickly, pays close attention to detail, and is a champion for collaboration and innovation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to faculty recruitment, onboarding, development, scheduling, and evaluation. The need for Chair oversight of these programs and faculty is critical as we seek to expand our programs, enrollments and coordinate instructional efforts to meet the needs of our students.
- Provides leadership to unit full- and part-time faculty, i.e., drafts annual expectations, sets priorities, provides frequent feedback, assesses outcomes, and conducts chair-level reviews, annual faculty performance evaluations, and promotion requests for all full-time, online, and statewide faculty.
- Facilitating course scheduling and rotation of courses for unit programs
- Increase exploration of and provide support for the growth of new innovative programs.
- Coordinates transitions, initiatives, and curricular projects across online and statewide disciplines
- Partners with E-Learning leadership to ensure successful curriculum development and enhancement services
- Leads program strategic planning, market research, and collaboration with Flagstaff programs and faculty in developing new programs for online and statewide markets
- Point of escalation for all online and statewide faculty and students
- Facilitates online and statewide unit meetings and collaborates with Industry Board participants
- Identifies and implements student recruitment and retention strategies for all online and statewide programs, in alignment with college and university goals
- Collaborates with university stakeholders to meet the needs of online and statewide program and students
- Promotes online and statewide through presentations and workshops for internal and external partners
- Analyzes and reports on program health and progress towards goals
- Participates on the University Chairs Council
- Participates in unit and college curriculum committees
- Teach one online course each academic year to remain current in faculty teaching experiences
- An earned doctorate in one of the following, or closely related fields:
- Adult Learning
- Applied Human Behavior,
- Criminal Justice/Justice Studies,
- Emergency Management,
- Higher Education Leadership
- Public Administration
- Workforce Education
- The equivalent of six years (12 semesters) of college-level teaching
- A minimum of three years combined of online and/or hybrid teaching experience.
- Two or more years of experience in faculty leadership and supervisory experience in an academic setting
- A demonstrated commitment to student success through effective teaching and other student-related activities
- Experience with programmatic oversight, academic quality, growth, and development
- Possesses team building and team membership skills to be able to work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills in the areas of creative problem-solving, conflict resolution, group planning, and decision-making processes
- The successful candidate will be committed to supporting and enhancing a culturally rich and diverse learning environment
- The successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds
- The successful candidate will have oversight of programs throughout the State of Arizona; however, most responsibilities will be at the Flagstaff Mountain Campus
- The expected start date will be July 1, 2021, or sooner dependent on the successful candidate’s availability.
- This will be a non-tenure track administrative faculty position, with 90% administrative duties.
- The faculty appointment is an academic year (9 month) appointment renewable depending on program growth and continued funding; the administrative assignment is a 12-month appointment renewable annually and accrues vacation to be used during the assignment.
- Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
