Assistant Educator of Filmmaking

Assistant Educator of Filmmaking, full-time, non-tenure eligible.  Teach courses associated with Filmmaking in the Bachelor of Applied Arts in Media Arts degree program; create effective learning activities, projects, and assignments; supervise student practicums.  Serve as filmmaking program director; develop and update curriculum relevant to current industry standards; help identify and recruit qualified adjunct instructors.  Engage in departmental, college, and university service associated with WSU faculty promotion policies.  Opportunities may include teaching in other areas of expertise (e.g., audio production, animation, etc.) depending upon department/program needs.

Required:  Bachelor’s degree in Filmmaking or related field, or equivalent professional experience; experience developing Filmmaking projects; proficiency in film editing software; knowledge of current technical/equipment standards; continuing/ongoing connection/commitment to the Filmmaking industry; excellent organizational and analytical skills; excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to build and sustain collaborative professional relationships with a diverse constituency of faculty, staff, students, and community/industry members; willingness to accommodate a variety of learning styles and strategies in instructional delivery and learning activities, including online and blended learning, flexible teaching methods, and applied learning approaches.

Preferred: Master’s degree in filmmaking or closely related field, or equivalent;  interest in and ability to advise and mentor students; ability to promote students’ professional development; Adobe Premiere Pro; Adobe After Effects; Davinci; Final Cut Pro; Demonstrated successful teaching at the college or university level.  Start Date:  August 8, 2021.
