Executive Vice President

Executive Vice President

Villanova University seeks an experienced, collaborative, and forward-thinking leader to serve as the institution’s next Executive Vice President.

Villanova University (“Villanova”) was founded in 1842 by the Order of Saint Augustine. To this day, Villanova’s Augustinian Catholic intellectual tradition is the cornerstone of an academic community in which students learn to think critically, act compassionately and succeed while serving others. Villanova prepares students to become ethical leaders who create positive change everywhere life takes them. The strength of the Villanova experience comes, in part, from the University’s welcoming community. All members are bonded together by a shared responsibility to uphold the ideals of Saint Augustine and let the principles of truth, unity and love guide their lives. The Villanova community helps students grow intellectually, professionally and spiritually, and challenges them to reach their full potential.

Reporting to the President, the Executive Vice President (“EVP”) is charged to lead operational and administrative affairs for the university. The EVP joins the Provost and the Senior Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Relations on the President’s Executive Council and is also a member of the President’s Cabinet. The EVP will aid and advise in all major decisions affecting the University and provide information and counsel to the President, Board of Trustees, and other executive officers on and administrative matters related to University-wide planning, policies, and procedures. In addition, the EVP work closely with the Provost, deans, faculty and other senior administrators throughout the University to manage and strengthen Villanova’s business and administrative policies and strategies to achieve the institutions goals in support of its academic, research, professional education and service missions.

The EVP will take a strategic approach in all areas of the University’s operational, physical and human infrastructure to ensure that decision-making, across the expansive portfolio is consistently, accurately, and effectively driven by strategic data and analysis, and to consider the full range of opportunities for partnerships, internal and external to the University. With accountability for a team of senior level officers and directors in the areas of auxiliary services, facilities management, government and external relations, human resources, information technology, and public safety, the EVP will lead and supervise the development of objectives, new programs and goals. The successful candidate will have substantial executive level administrative and operational management experience, ideally in higher education, government or the private sector, of comparable complexity with the ability to embrace and articulate the values that make Villanova distinctive. A bachelor’s degree is required.
