Assistant Vice President for Finance and Administration

Summary of Job Duties:

The Assistant Vice President for Finance and Administration is a senior member of the Division of Agriculture finance staff and is primarily responsible for implementing sound financial management policies and practices and ensuring quality business services are delivered to Division of Agriculture employees and constituents. The position oversees, manages, and has primary responsibility for key functional areas of the Division Business Office that include: Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Cash/Treasury Management, and Financial Reporting. Additionally, the position oversees budget and grant administration functions for the Cooperative Extension Service (CES) and serves as the primary financial specialist for CES-specific matters. The Assistant Vice President for Finance and Administration serves as a member of the Division’s Executive Committee and is actively involved in administrative decisions related to strategic planning, policy development, and budget allocations. As a senior member of the Division’s financial staff, the position is accountable to both the Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration (Chief Financial Officer) and the Senior Associate Vice President for Agriculture – Extension, reporting administratively to the Chief Financial Officer.


Minimum Qualifications
The position requires a master’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a relevant discipline plus eight (8) years of relevant professional experience, including two (2) years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline plus an active designation as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) will be considered the equivalent of a master’s degree. Substitution for a master’s degree does not waive the other requirements, which are in addition to the substitution requirements.

Preferred Qualifications
Active designation as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). One year experience using Workday or a similar accounting system to perform accounting and financial functions. State government or Higher Education experience. Strong Excel spreadsheet skills, State government and property accounting -related experience preferred.
