Position Summary and Responsibilities
The Director, EOAA and Title IX Coordinator serves as a partner to various sectors of the campus community with responsibility for monitoring, managing, and supporting policies and initiatives related to discrimination and harassment, retaliation, sexual and gender-based harassment and violence, and equal opportunity and affirmative action (Titles VI, VII, IX and ADA 504/policies), with the goal of improving the campus climate. Additionally, the Director provides policy expertise and support in civil rights law, including Affirmative Action and equal opportunity laws, to help ensure compliance with applicable regulations and implementation of best practices.
The Director aligns and integrates high-quality educational programming and training in all the above areas for various members of the campus community to ensure community members understand their compliance rights and responsibilities and procedures. This position reports to the Vice President for Technology and Human Resources, a Senior Officer of the College.

Responsibilities:

 

 

 

  • Manages the Office of Equal Opportunity & Affirmative Action (EOAA), supervises the Assistant Director of EOAA and an Office Specialist, and provides the framework within which the faculty director of affirmative action responds to complaints involving faculty.
  • Ensures comprehensive educational and training initiatives are developed and delivered and provides technical expertise and guidance in support of the College's commitment and obligations under Title IX, Title VII, Title VI, ADA 504, the Clery Act, and other federal and state laws. Oversees periodic review and implementation of the College's Affirmative Action plans.
  • Oversees investigations of complaints of discrimination or harassment brought by students, employees, and the public. Recruits, trains and manages investigators, adjudicators, advisors for all Title IX and EOAA cases.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge and understanding of relevant state and federal laws, regulations, and trends in the field of higher education. Serves as a liaison to government officials in areas relevant to the role. Prepares, in collaboration with other College stakeholders, annual statistical reports to state and federal agencies, President, Board of Trustees, and others in the campus community on incidences of sexual offense and claims of discrimination or harassment.
  • Leads or serves on committees to provide subject matter expertise and facilitate necessary changes across the institution, including the College's Committee on Inclusion & Equity. Co-chairs the College's Compliance Working Group to provide expertise in civil rights law.
  • Serves as Title IX Coordinator and Section 504/ADA Coordinator. Serves as Clery Compliance Officer and, as such, prepares the College's Annual Security Report in collaboration with other college stakeholders and oversees protocols for issuing timely warnings.

 


Qualifications

 

 

 

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience or certification required.
  • A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in equal opportunity /affirmative action, employee relations, human resources, or closely related field.
  • Experience in education.
  • Skills in collaboration, managing change, and building consensus; strong conflict resolution, de-escalation, and mediation skills.
  • Current knowledge of relevant state and federal laws pertaining to education, employment, labor, equal opportunity and affirmative action, including Titles VI, VII, IX and ADA.
  • Ability to set strategic direction and design and implement effective policies and programs.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to gather, assemble, analyze and evaluate facts, evidence, data, and other information in order to draw reasonable and fair conclusions and make sound decisions and recommendations.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills, with supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of online training platforms and EOAA software and reporting systems.
