Broward College invites application for the position of College Provost & Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.  

 

This senior management position serves in an executive capacity reporting to the College President for overall planning, operation and evaluation of the college’s guided pathway programs and services. In consultation with the Campus Presidents, Pathway Deans and the Faculty Senate, this position is responsible for the coordination and administration of district-wide pathway programs and related policies and procedures. Provides overall leadership and vision for academic affairs within the context of the College's vision and mission, and the Education Master Plan's goals and strategies. Provides academic leadership for accreditation; the assessment of pathway programs and general education outcomes, and the continuous improvement of academic programs; and college-wide initiatives including developmental education, dual enrollment and other accelerated learning mechanisms, international education, instructional technology, online learning, career and technical education, and the honors program. Represents the College in various civic, community and professional organizations at the local, state, and national level.

Anticipated Hire: July 1, 2021

 

Minimum Education:

  • Doctorate degree required.

 

Minimum Experience/Training:

  • Fifteen years or more of progressively responsible experience in higher education in academic administration, preferably at a multi-campus institution, and ten or more years of management/leadership experience.
  • Teaching experience required.

 

Essential Functions:

Weekly - 20%: Provides senior leadership direction in fulfilling the mission of the College in the district wide academic affairs function in collaboration with the Campus Presidents, district vice presidents, and key stakeholders. Leadership includes the planning, administration, evaluation and continuous improvement of college-wide academic programs and initiatives, including general education, international, and career and technical program assessment.

 

Weekly - 20%: Serves as chief academic policy, program and accreditation officer for the college. Ensures compliance with the provisions of all applicable federal and state regulatory standards, Board of Trustees directives, SACS Principles of Accreditation, and adherence to college policies and procedures. Evaluates, revises and develops academic policies and procedures.

 

Weekly - 10%: In collaboration with the Campus Presidents and key stakeholders, provides senior management direction, leadership, and coordination for:

  • An outcomes-based curriculum and curriculum processes, program and degree planning, and articulation with state, regional and national colleges and universities
  • A K-12 articulation, including dual enrollment, accelerated learning mechanisms and career pathways for career and technical programs

 

Monthly - 10%: Provides overall guidance, leadership and support of Institutional Planning & Effectiveness for a continuing action research agenda that examines the efficacy of guided pathways in the improvement of student success and engagement.  

 

Monthly - 20%: Promotes and provides guidance and inclusion in the engagement of designing, implementing, evaluating and ongoing improvement of pathways for students.

 

Weekly - 10%: In collaboration with the Campus Presidents, Pathway Deans, and the Faculty Senate, provides senior management direction, leadership, and coordination for the college's online learning programs and initiatives, and instructional technology initiatives.

 

Monthly - 10%: In collaboration with the Campus Presidents and key stakeholders, provides senior management direction, leadership, and coordination:

  • For international education initiatives, including study abroad and partnerships with overseas institutions
  • For special academic programs, such as the Honors Institute and Developmental Education

  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary institutional effectiveness practices.
  • Demonstrated interest in advocating for the effective application of technology in teaching and learning, the delivery of online programs. and degrees and the importance of faculty development and instructional design in the teaching/learning process.
