The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College (UCBA) invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics position in our Math, Physics, and Computer Science Department. UC Blue Ash College is the largest regional college in Ohio offering primarily associate degrees, with an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students.

Job Overview
A Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati is expected to teach and participate in scholarly and other professional or creative activities. This position will support the University of Cincinnati’s mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff, and all of our activities.

We are seeking applicants who are deeply committed to excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will be required to teach any of the courses taught by the physics faculty. Currently, these courses range from introductory physics and introductory astronomy to engineering physics. The standard teaching load for UC Blue Ash College faculty is 12 credit hours per term and may include evening classes; class sizes normally range from 16 to 24 students. The position is scheduled to begin August 15, 2021 and is expected to last one academic year.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct and teach assigned undergraduate courses and seminars.
  • Attend meetings, participate in governance, prepare materials for teaching.
  • Evaluate and develop curriculum for department and/or college.
  • Serve as an academic adviser for students and evaluate student coursework.
  • Serve on college or university committees and participate in curriculum development activities.
  • Engage in other activities ancillary to or in support of his or her responsibilities.
  • Render service to the professional or lay community which is relevant to the individual’s academic specialty.
  • Review, and where necessary, respond in a timely manner to all University-related communications.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Required Education

  • Minimum Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Physics / Physics Education or a masters degree (or higher) in a related field with 18 graduate semester credit hours in Physics.

Required Experience

  • All applicants must have a minimum of two terms of college-level physics teaching experience prior to the effective date of appointment.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Effective online teaching experience will be considered.
