Psychology - Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology

The Department of Psychology at Hope College seeks applicants for a Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2021-22 academic year.  Primary teaching responsibilities are in introduction to psychology, with the possibility of another course in the applicant’s area of specialty. The standard teaching load is three courses per semester, typically with one or two preparations per semester. Applications demonstrating experience and capacity to mentor, conduct research, and teach courses that address intersections with race, ethnicity, and culture are especially welcome.

Because the Psychology Department is a national leader in faculty-student collaborative research, we welcome candidates who have a research program that can excite and involve undergraduates. We welcome innovative teachers who skillfully integrate research with teaching. Our introductory psychology course includes research lab studies to teach students about observational, correlational, and experimental designs. We especially seek applicants who have demonstrated experience effectively working with racially or ethnically underrepresented students.

The Psychology Department at Hope College has 12 tenured/tenure-track faculty and graduates about 80 majors per year. The Psychology Department also contributes to Hope College’s interdisciplinary major and minor in neuroscience.
