Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

The University of Oklahoma (OU) seeks nominations and applications for the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee all areas of Administration and Finance for the comprehensive university system, which consists of three campuses. This leader is one of the three top executives of the university reporting directly to the President.

The University of Oklahoma is a doctoral degree granting research university serving the educational, cultural, economic, and health-care needs of the state, region, and nation. The Norman campus serves as home to all of the university’s academic programs except health-related fields.

The OU Health Sciences Center, which has academic and clinical programs in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and across the state, is one of the most comprehensive academic health centers in the nation with seven professional colleges, the state’s largest clinical group practice OU Physicians, and research centers such as the NCI designated Stephenson Cancer Center and the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center. 

OU enrolls almost 32,000 students, has more than 2,800 full-time faculty members, and has 21 colleges offering 172 majors at the baccalaureate level, 156 majors at the master’s level, 81 doctoral-level majors and 54 graduate certificates. The university’s annual operating budget is $2.1 billion.

The CFO reports directly to the President of the University of Oklahoma, and is accountable for the administration of all financial operations of the university, including the development of a financial and operational strategy with metrics tied to that strategy; and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve university assets, report accurate financial results, monitor adherence to the budget, and develop long-term financial and operational strategies.

The CFO’s portfolio will also include university-wide oversight of Information Technology, Human Resources, Operations, Enterprise Risk Management, and Bursar and Student Financial Services. The CFO also works closely with OU Foundation leadership and OU Athletics financial management.

The University of Oklahoma seeks a collaborative leader with a record of professional accomplishment in the area of finance. Successful applicants will have outstanding administrative leadership capacity, excellent communication skills, and commitment to a diverse university. Applicants should have experience as a senior financial officer in a higher education, health system, government or business organization of relevant size and complexity.
