Public Safety Associate

Loyola Marymount University is recruiting for a Public Safety Associate. Reporting to the Director of Campus Safety and Compliance this position is responsible for creating and administering the University’s Safety Compliance requirements.

The Public Safety Associate will serve as the University’s Deputy Campus Safety Compliance Officer and the liaison for the University’s compliance committee and records retention sub-committee.  Additional responsibilities include creating and executing annual Campus Safety Compliance Training for the University; creating, authoring and executing the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, and reporting data to and from various Local, State, and Government Agencies;  managing the daily crime and fire logs, and reports for both online and hard-copy access; classifying Public Safety Incident Reports for the purposes of reporting and referrals to external recipients, including translating Incident Reports in accordance with the Federal Uniform Crime Reporting and State Penal Code classifications.  The Public Safety Associate will also administer Clery Audit Files and Incident Report records; the Department’s crime and incident statistic aggregation; and the job safety analyses and relevant training curriculum for pertinent LMU faculty and staff positions that require specialized safety training.  This position will also assist the Director of Campus Safety and Compliance with creating Departmental Policies and Procedures and maintaining Policy Records and Training.

Qualifications and Application

To serve as the Public Safety Associate, typically a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 5 years’ office administration experience in progressively responsible positions. Demonstrated experience in the following: management of highly sensitive and confidential information; management of multiple conflicting priorities; creating reports to track and monitor activities and provide notice to leadership and the campus community; and facilitation of communication between numerous parties.  The incumbent should possess exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information as well as, be proficient and up to date on compliance related laws and regulations affecting the Higher Education and the Department of Public Safety, including but not limited to Jeanne Clery Act, Higher Education Opportunity Act, Title IX of the Civil Rights Act; be proficient and up to date on workplace safety related laws including Cal/OSHA regulation, demonstrated computer competency proficiency in Microsoft Office Professional systems, web content management, able to utilize technology for data collection, reporting and analysis and have the ability to interpret regulations and translate to policies and procedures, with highly developed organizational and leadership skills.  This successful candidate will be able to work in a team environment with peers and other co-workers and be available to work during the day, during University special events, off-hours for projects and upgrades, and on-call for emergencies.

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority under the Jeanne Clery Act.
