Lecturer in Technical Design in Theatre

 

The Department of Theatre and Dance at Santa Clara University seeks applications for a full-time Lecturer to teach seven courses (quarter system) in technical direction and production management in theatre. All teaching will be at the undergraduate level. Courses associated with this position include (but not limited to) Introduction to Production, Production Workshop, Technical Design, Sound Design, Production Management. This is a nine-month, full-time, three-year non-tenure track teaching appointment that may be renewed for additional terms contingent upon the availability of funds, persistent programmatic need and superior performance in the areas of teaching, service and professional activity. The initial appointment is for three years with the possibility of additional terms of three years and then six years. This position has a promotion path to Senior Lecturer, a rank that includes sabbatical privileges. Lecturers have responsibilities in teaching and instructional leadership, curriculum development and advising (70%), professional activity (15%), and service (15%).

Basic Qualifications: MFA in Technical Design and Production with technical direction, production management and sound design experience in professional and/or academic theatre. Experience and commitment to working with undergraduates. Three years of teaching experience at a university. Evidence of superior teaching. Evidence of strong performance as a colleague taking part in the life and work of the department and University. Salary range: $64,174 - $71,292.
